Christmas Hustle and Bustle

This weekend my husband and I decided we had better get a move on finishing up Christmas shopping so we headed to Gaffney. There were so many people there shopping it was unbelievable. I noticed a couple that were walking around with multiple bags and they were spending lots and lots of money. We later saw that same couple in the Coach purse store where the purses are at least one hundred dollars for the small handbags and up to seven hundred dollars for larger bags. The lady made the comment that she wanted to get her loved ones the most expensive gift she could find. I just stood there as I overheard this and thought to myself, the true meaning of Christmas has really escaped a lot of our minds. The true meaning of Christmas is not to give, but to receive the most amazing gift ever, Jesus Christ. Jesus was born on Christmas and we are supposed to celebrate his birth. He doesn't ask us to bring him the most expensive gift to receive his unconditional love; he doesn't ask us to wear the nicest clothing or to have the most things. He simply asks us to put him first in our lives, depend on him and rely on his faith to help us through anything. It is very easy to sit in church on Christmas Eve and feel the love that Jesus gives us, but to carry that love the other 364 days a year and truly love God and Jesus for who they are is something people just struggle with. God wants us to obey him, love him, and trust him all the days of our lives. Remember to focus on what is right, who is ultimately right and just. God loves you and wants you to love him every single day. Remember that the true meaning of Christmas is sharing the birth of Jesus Christ with friends and loved ones, and spending quality time together. If you feel that you must buy the most expensive gift for everyone, stop, and about what Jesus would want you to do this Christmas. If you have not received his ultimate gift, then the best gift you can receive this Christmas is opening your heart up to God and letting him in. Confessing all your sins to him and having him guide the rest of your life. Marking your place in Heaven for eternity would be the most expensive gift that you could receive for no price at all. You do not have to buy someone's love; you simply have to be you. God loves you for you, be yourself, love another and do for another. Some of the best gifts of all are the ones that do not cost a thing. The only cost that God charges you for your place in Heaven is your word that he is ultimately first in your life and you live your life every single day for the Glory of Him. Merry Christmas to you all, and Happy Birthday Jesus.
